Just thought I'd describe how I make signatures the majority of the time. For this signature I am using brushes created by "J-A-S-H-I-N".
1. Go File > New (Cntrl-N), and input these settings. Then press OK.
2. Now go Filter > Render > Clouds. Press Cntrl-F a few times if you aren't happy with the result.
3. Now go Layer > New Layer and press OK (Shift-Cntrl-N). Now take out some good brushes (whatever type you like) and brush a little in black.
4. Now go Layer > New Layer and press OK (Shift-Cntrl-N). Now take out some new brushes (no one likes everything to be the same) and brush a little in white. Remember you can always lower the opacity if you need to.
5. Now go Layer > New Layer and press OK (Shirt-Cntrl-N). Now take out yet some more brushes and brush some more in black.
Note: You can make more brushing layers if need be.
6. Now go Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Colour Balance. Move the sliders about until you're happy. Make 3-5 Colour Balance Layers. Then on each one press Filter > Render > Clouds to make a multi-colour effect.
Note: You can leave this until after you open the render to have the render the same colour as the background.
7. Now..time to get a render. Go to File > Open and find your render if you have one saved. If not find one from www.gamerenders.com or any other good website. I will be using this Master Chief render from www.gamerenders.com. Full credit to whoever rendered this, not sure of your name sorry. I have never used this one before so bear with me.
8. Now you have your render open time to get it onto your signature. Take out the Magic Wand tool (W) and click anywhere on the white background. Hold shift if you need to to select any other areas. Once all the white is selected press Cntrl-Shift-I to inverese the selection onto your image. Now press Cntrl-C to copy the selection, then Cntrl-W to close the render, then Cntrl-V to copy it to your signature. Press Edit > Free Transform and resize it like so.
9. Now time to blend and polish the render.. Take your Lassoo Tool (underneath Rectangular Marquee) And outline your render. First set the feather to 20 px. Now, in the Layers Window press the small gray icon next to the fancy looking "F". This is a layer mask. Now your image should look blended.

10. Now time to spiff up your render and make it look slightly more interesting. Press Layer > Duplicate Layer (Cntrl-J) to duplicate your render layer then go Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur with a radius of 4.0. Now set your blending mode to Overlay and press Cntrl-E to merge your layer back down with your original render layer.
11. Time for some Text. Choose a good font, look at www.dafont.com if you need to. Set the size at whatever suits you best, the colour at white, and pick any anti-aliasing other than None. Type whatever you like and then right click layer and select Blending Options. Set the Blend Mode to Soft Light then press Drop Shadow. Put Distance to 0. Press Bevel and Emboss. Put Size to 0. Press Colour Overlay, change the colour to white. Then choose Gradiant Overlay and set the Opacity to 75%. Then press Stroke and put it to 1 px, black, 76%. This is optional, for a metallic effect press Inner Shadow.
Optional: Add some subtext if you want to, choose a small pixel font. Apply whatever blending effects look best to you.
13. The border. Make a new layer and press Cntrl-A to select all. Then press Edit > Stroke and set it at 3 px, black, inside. Repeat that but do 2 px, white. Repeat that but do 1 px, black, Now set that layer to overlay.
I hope you liked my first tutorial, ImageShack played up halfway through so that's why there aren't many images.

All of this is rip proof.
