At one bit, it wouldn't work. It when you merge it after smudging. Do you hold something down or something? Edit: I forgot to hit Ctrl and A

Here's my result, I'm not sure if it's good or bad for a manip. But, whatever, I enjoyed doing it. It doesn't look too different from the original image, just darker and brighter colours. My WorkOriginal Image

Thanks for the comments guys and great result Kane. I thought the smudging looked good WITH the spatter, I should have left the smudge layer visible.

How come your sigs are on the right? I thought it'd look different if I alligned it there. Normally people have them on the left or center, so I thought I'd be different.
