I can't communicate with Windows Explorer, it instantly says it needs to shut down send error message all that crap then goes back to normal. I can run programs fine but I can't access files, for example I can't run a scan on Norton. HELP NOW! Please. I'm seriously screwed for graphics if I can't get these files.

Have you tried a system restore?
I don't know a lot about it so you might want to ask Seb, but I reckon it could help.

it does kinda sound like a virus, did you do anything different to it? you could see if anything's accesible through safe mode or take out all the background programs and see it its related to one of them. can't you type file locations in internet explorer?

Dude, my net has only just come on so i couldnt help you. Right, When you boot your pc keep tapping F8. eventually a menu will appear with options. What you should choose is start windows in safemode. When it begins to boot it will ask you do you want to safe system restore. Click the one where it lets you do a restore. (Can't remember which one ^_^) After that dont choose a too later date, set it to about either 3days-week.
Hope this helps.

Heh don't worry Trist, the hard drive was fucked so ripped it out and replaced it. Eventually the whole system wasn't working, the options it had on the screen wouldn't even work so meh.
