The Review:
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was a book originally written by Hunter S. Thompson, I read the book and I can say it's ace. Soon after I read the book I found out there was a film and with Johnny Depp in it, I thought it couldn't be that bad. Also Terry Gilliam was the director who done Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
The films main actors are: Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory) and Benicio del Toro (Snatch, Sin City). Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp) is a journalist on his way to Las Vegas to do a report on the Mint 400 and he is accompanied by his attorney Dr. Gonzo (Benicio del Toro). But when they make this trip they are fully loaded on drugs and alcohol. This is an extraordinary experience throughout the whole film as they encounter police, reporters, gamblers, racers, and hitchhikers. On this trip they are also seeking the "American Dream" which leads to a lot of other adventures.
The great thing about this film is the hallucinations they see when they are on drugs, at one point Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp) is in a bar and can see reptiles everywhere and the floor is soaked in blood. Johnny Depp is awesome in this, the way he shouts out abuse is funny as hell. Benicio del Toro (Dr.Gonzo) has his moments aswell, at one point he wants his client Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp) to throw the radio in the bathtub to kill him but has a giant lime thrown at his head.
I loved the book and the film was amazing, the performances were played great and everything was done sweetly. Hilarious, go see it now.
