For me it would go to the Megaman Zero Series followed closely by the original Megaman Series.

one of the hardest i ever played was grandia, very hard rpg, and worth it

Half Life 1. One wrong step and you have to restart the whole section again. Infuriating to the core.
Sonic Heros was pretty hard too. Because the entire game was executed terribly.
